I just got back from the wedding of my beautiful niece. It was a gorgeous event, at a magnificent hall, with stunning flowers, fabulous food, and drop dead gorgeous dresses. My niece looked perfect, like a porcelain Disney princess. But most of all, it was happy. Everyone was just so happy. The groom is a totally decent guy, a real mentsch, and he loves my niece to death. And so we love him too. It is so rare to have an evening like this, of pure, unspoiled bliss- no buts, no if-onlys, nothing negative. Just pure happiness. And I kept thinking, "Thank you, God, for this. And please, hold their hands and guide them smoothly down the road, and let them always be as happy as they are tonight."
