As noted below, I took a week long break from blogging to "engage in some Real Life pursuits". That included catching up on overdue paperwork that I owed my supervisor, assembling a new bookcase, doing loads and loads of laundry, and blowing my nose incessantly as I fought my way through a really bad cold. Turns out that Real Life is just not that exciting, at least not for me. I mean, Jeez, I didn't even catch something cool and trendy like swine flu. It was just a plain old cold.
Now I'm busy trying to create a photo slideshow for my mother's 70th birthday party this Sunday. At first, I planed on sending all the pictures that I collected to a guy we know and having him assemble them into a slideshow. But after realizing that I have three different audio/video programs on my computer, I decided to try to do it on my own. I chose to use Windows MovieMaker. I want to add songs from our I-Tunes library, text in the beginning and the end, and some simple special effects. Since this is my first time doing this, I'm still trying to puzzle out the directions, and I can use some guidance. If anyone out there is familiar with MovieMaker, please drop me some helpful hints in the comments!

My 12-year-old son has puzzled his way through Moviemaker. But he has to go to school today (and the chances of my getting him to read your post late tonight are?).
Mrs. S. of http://ourshiputzim.blogspot.com also has a son who makes movies.
Good to hear from you. I also caught a cold from "real life." Trying to get rid of it by drinking a lot and eating broth, veggies and fruit with Vit. C.
Thanks, Leora. It seems like the only people who know how to do this are kids. My son said that "everyone" knows how to make movies (except him, of course!)and my daughter named 2 girls in her class who made "terrific videos" using MovieMaker (but she won't ask them for help because that is "like, so embarrassing!")
I could help- if you have a specific problem...
Don't know much about Movie Maker, but Real Life Pursuits? Ahhhh... the list is a mile long.
BTW, you've been tagged....
I have done it, but I don't have any amazing advice. Most of it was just trial by error.
So relieved your back. I thought you had joined some sort of internet addiction group and were never coming back.
I've been thinking of cutting back on my computer use myself, but maybe next week.
And the school I used to work for (PS 177) was closed down because of the pig flu. my friends are having a great free vacation.
Mrs. S... also has a son who makes movies.Yes, I do, and here's his expert and very helpful advice, "What? You just have to look at it, and there's a thing on the left with everything you need to do..."

I do have a specific problem (or two). Could I e-mail you about it?
ALN-
I enjoyed your post and will try to respond to the tag soon.
Jack-
Totally unhelpful comment. Thank you. ( :
Baila-
Thanks for being relieved. I don't intend to disappear, I just find myself short on time lately.
I heard about PS177! That's your old school?
Mrs. S.-
Sigh. Tell your son that I found the thing on the left, it just doesn't always listen to me.
Sure- I'll see what I can do. No guarantees though; I haven't used it for a while.
Hi,
I've made movies and slideshows in movie maker. I also made a DVD slideshow set to music for my sisters' wedding. If you don't get the help you need from others, gimme a shout at sinnersaintshiksa@hotmail.com I'd be glad to help :)
Totally unhelpful comment. Thank you. ( :Good, then my I have served my purpose. Just wait until you ask me to stop to ask for directions. ;)
