Now, I am NOT a big fan of Sarah Palin. I was so disappointed and disgusted by the way that she blew her chance to be the first female VP by repeatedly displaying ignorance, arrogance, and selfishness during the presidential campaign. I think that she has proven herself to be a political joke, and is no longer worthy of our attention and respect.BUT...
For Newsweek to choose THIS picture of her for their cover this week is inappropriate, humiliating, and blatantly sexist. Plenty of male politicians have proven themselves to be jokes as well, but I have never seen a half-clothed "sexy" picture of any of them on the cover of a national newsmagazine. Sarah Palin posed for this picture for an issue of "Runners World" magazine. In that context, this picture would be appropriate. But not for Newsweek.

I saw that picture elsewhere, in the past. Doesn't it look like she has been compressed? Not only does her body look skinny, her whole head looks skinny.
She's kind of like a really cool looking birthday present, all gift-wrapped, ribbons and all. But when you open it, you find a nice steaming turd.
You are expecting good taste from a national media outlet? Years back the NY Times published a list of clothing that the Clintons had donated to charity, while he was still President. Not enough to say what they donated, they printed the size of the President's underwear and that he preferred jockeys to boxers. Once the Times--and other "top" publications--talked about "all the news that's fit to print." Today that should read "all the news that fits into print."
The "feminist" in me totally agrees with you. Can't help wondering what SHE thinks of this poor choice.

Why the quotation marks? There's no need to feel defensive about being a feminist. The world needs more feminists. And as for Sarah Palin, she is very angry and has called the photo choice sexist.
Here's my ultra-sophisticated comment - Newsweek is "feh." I complained to one of my doctors who has the magazine in her waiting room. Even before this issue, I've found their coverage to be lopsided and lousy.
Palin herself was ticked? Really? Because that would actually constitute some sound judgment, something I don't necessarily look for from her. I thought she was a poor choice for the GOP too, and rather than modeling running gear, she ought to be back in school learning some history, Constitutional law, and civics. Then I might be able to take her seriously as a politician. Until she does that, she's just another pretty face.
