Nobody Puts Baby In a Corner

Patrick Swayze passed away today of pancreatic cancer at the young age of 57.
My friend's mother died of pancreatic cancer years ago. It is a merciless disease, which usually leaves its victims with little time to live. Swayze fought the disease for over a year and a half. We females of (ahem) a certain age remember Swayze best as the sexy, slightly sleazy Johnny Castle of Dirty Dancing fame. He wore tight leather pants, had a working class accent, and danced like an angel. Baby wasn't the only one who got swept off her feet.

I always loved this movie.
Patrick Swayze was the real deal. When he was sick he didn't just give up and crawl in a corner. He underwent treatment and worked until he could no longer do so. I admire him for his courage.

Oh, how sad. I was hoping he'd beat it somehow.

I'm also of a certain age *ahem!*- saw "Dirty Dancing" 2 or 3 times, bought the soundtrack (on a cassette! Remember those? LOL). The man was hot. Very, very hot.

RR, only a few times? My tape actually wore out- my parents loved it too because of all the oldies. And remember how he sang the theme song?

I didn't know that he sang the theme song!

He was *NOT the slightest bit* sleazy.....
You take that back right now!!! ;)
Seriously, though... he was a class act with an almost unheard of 30+ year marriage in Hollywood. And that man could dance.....

Dirty Dancing is my favorite movie, with my favorite quote of all time.

It's time for us to all get together for a DD/Ghost marathon. Who's in?

Yeah- She's Like the Wind. And Ghost sort of skeeves me out.

You know I have never seen this movie! Concerning pancreatic cancer, I agree with you it is a very nasty disease.

Staying Afloat-
I didn't like Ghost either. It was just a vehicle for Demi Moore to look sad and cry a lot. Although Whoopie Goldberg was pretty funny.
Ilanadavita-
You NEED to see this movie! It will take you back to your teenage years.

I posted this on my FB status. "Time of my life" was the song played for years after at Bar and bat mitzvahs. He was amazing. Anyone remember the mini-series North and South?

I remember North and South! I used to be a big John Jakes fan.
