How To Get Your Kids To Love You

I just made my kids pizza burekas. Just spoon a bit of pizza sauce and shredded cheese onto phyllo dough squares, seal them with your fingers and bake for 10 minutes until puffy. My daughter took one bite, sighed deeply and said "I love you, Ma".
Everything should be that easy.

For some real recipes, check out the Kosher Cooking Carnival over at Baila's.

My son said: "sounds interesting."

Borekas are the national heart attack food of Israel. I love them dearly, but try not to indulge to often. I can't eat the pizza borekas here because they make 'em with olives (yech!).

too much oil!
Make pita pizzas... same thing, but using a pita as the base....

so you didn't use the kind of burekas with potatoe in it? I like this idea my kids might actually return from the "we're not eating anything mommy makes" stike.

I know that burekas are oily, but they're a once-in-a-while treat, and my daughters are so skinny that I don't mind giving them high-calorie food sometimes. I usually make pita pizzas (low-cost alternative to store-bought pizza) but my kids are getting sick of it.
Sheva- feed your kids whatever you like; just lie and say that Grandma or Aunt Sarah made it.

Puffy pastry dough works better than phylo dough IMO.

I also make my own franks in blankets (veggie) with it.

pesky settler-
I thought that phylo and puff pastry dough were the same thing. What's the difference?
I just checked the package I used-it says puff pastry.
I also make my own franks in blankets with it.

very cute that it caused your daughter to say she loves you. Amazing what a little touch of home cooking can do. I actually remember having that same reaction a few times when my mother would prepare something that was my favorite.
